Very near the hermitage of St. Jerome, in a similar vertical crack of the same rock, there is a tower from 1523 which was used for defence and shelter of field workers when Ottoman soldiers or pirates would attack. Above the entrance, there is a crest of the Karepić family with the inscription: CONCORDES VOTA SEQVNTVR DISCORDES FRVSTRA LABORANT M.D.XXXIII – Vows are granted to those who keep together, those who do not labour in vain 1523.
