Ivan Meštrović and his brother Petar bought the land of the Capogrosso-Kavanjin Castle in 1939, intending to repurpose it. In the western part of the complex, he built the “main hall” – the present-day Church of the Holy Cross. It was finished in 1953, and the following year, 28 wood reliefs depicting motifs from the life of Jesus and a large crucifix were placed inside. On the western side of the church there is a large porch which features the sculpture titled Author of the Apocalypse.
